My Lover, Death

The day is long, the night is cold

I need his warm comforting haze

Death is a man who loves me so

I fit in the cradle of his embrace

They torture me, and mourn for me

But I can't hear their cries

I see him now, he's beckoning

In his gentleness, for me to hide

I search him now, I yearn for him

An addiction, he's always in my veins

But he is close, temptingly so

And I resist, not giving in to the chain.

If you truly love me so,

Just now, please leave me be

You are my life, you are my love

You are my Death, my pain ...

And then in that final serenade,

I will be with Death someday.
