+ 6TH POEMS: Of The Russian Historian, Michael Rostovtzeff

After departing Russia, your published work was given quick

rejection by your peers.  Why ever did you omit, from your history

of Rome, the rise of earliest Christianity?

You refused entrance into the fellowship of the Mystery.

I think you were, even here, a spiritual Bolshevik.

Author's Notes/Comments:

During the final term of my senior year of college, an independent study I undertook formally required I read ten Historical interpretations of the rise and fall of Rome, including Rostovtzeff's.  I was amazed, at first, how much of the Russian Revolution was present in his interpretation of Rome.  And he fully omitted the presence and rise of earliest Christianity.

The fourth line quotes Ephesians 3:9.
