In the middle

Light flashed as shells crashed

Screams tore through the night

Men all around fell down to the ground

And yet in the middle stood I

Bullets flew by. Grown men did cry

As blood from their bodies did pour

Thunderous sounds crashed all around

And yet in the middle stood I

War raged on past the break of dawn

But neither side ever did rest

Blood ran through the fields, but none would yield

And yet in the middle stood I

By mid day, many bodies there lay

Scattered about all the field

Two men still, fought there on a hill

And yet in the middle stood I

Exhausted they fought jus how they'd been taught

Until there only was one

But there on the field, did the victor's heart yield

And there in the middle stood I.
