happy birthday to me

as my eyes fill with tears

where have I been

for 15 of these years

so many things happened

yet I'm still so young

youthful is what I am

yet not an inexperienced one

so happy birthday to me

as I look back on my life

so many reasons to cry

I'm wondering if I've done things right

so happy birthday to me

as I reminse for a while

so many happy moments

so many reasons to smile

so happy birthday to me

and I hope the happiness lasts

friends, jokes, tears, love

family, moments, smiles and laughs

here I am and why am I celebrating

I'm not the age I want to be

so I'll just keep anticipating

an age to be allowed

to experience at best

an age where I won't be questioned

questioned by the rest

an age when I'm allowed to feel

an age when you'll realize it's real

happy birthday to me

I'll be waiting for a while

for my birthday to be happy

once I see you smile
