Questions of a Weeping Heart

What is love?
Is it a stomach full of butterflies?
Is it honesty; living without lies?

Is it based on looks?
Is it how it's described in books?
Is it all about personality?
Is it leaving behind reality?

Is it time we've spent?
Is it learning to forgive and repent?
Is it putting you before me?
Is it praying on bended knee?

Is it being lost and broken?
Is it soft and sweet words spoken?
Is it secrets quietly shared?
Is it bold and loudly declared?

Is it a fight?
Is it something that always feels right?
Is it a struggle?
Is it figuring out how to juggle?

Is it learning to lose?
Is it something you choose?
Is it letting go?
Is it something you just know?

Is it wholly surrendering?
Is it something that God's constantly rendering?
Is it joy in the midst of sorrow?
Is it finding hope in tomorrow?

Is it comfort through a storm?
Is it keeping one another warm?
Is it holding you up, so you can stand?
Is it reaching out to grab your hand?

Is it laughter and fun?
Is it raising a daughter or a son?
Is it a comfortable silence?
Is it complete and utter reliance?

Is it a chore?
Is it never walking out the door?
Is it chemistry and science?
Is it an act of defiance?

Is it keeping faith when you're wavering?
Is it memories made for savoring?
Is it a light in a sea of dark?
Is it a sudden, unexpected spark?

Is it forgiveness through the hurt?
Is it pulling each other from the dirt?
Is it a fire we keep feeding?
Is it feeling that your heart is bleeding?

Is it explainable?
Is it attainable?
What is love?

Author's Notes/Comments:

When writing this... I actually visualized it being delivered as a type of performance piece.
