what we had was not an illusion

you were there

i could close my eyes right now

reach over

and your arm would be right there

your arm and your voice

all i need to know

you are real

and so was this

for awhile

and then it became an illusion

something other than what i thought it was

i wake up and here i am

hard to believe

hard to believe that any word

out of your mouth

held truth

cause the illusion is all i know now

and your words are gone
