A flash shined in my mind

 

To make me remember

 

A face

 

I have seen last December

I was coming from a tourist tour

 

Feeling  hungry

 

And emotionally poor

We accidently

 

Stood there

 

By a mobile cafeteria

 

On the platform

 

She ordered:

 

"Tom Yum"

 

And I asked for:

 

Som Tam

 

====

 

I wished to stand there for ever

 

To read the cute face

 

Again and again

 

But she picked her order

 

Got on her bicycle

 

To go back to Mom

 

And I stumbled in my way

 

Back home.

That  was

 

The warmest "Bye Bye"

 

I ever have seen.

Alright,

 

I have never been a father

 

Yet I feel

 

I have

 

In the Globe

 

More than one can count

 

Of sons

 

and

 

 

 

An

 

Infinite

 

number of daughters

 

 

 

 

Author's Notes/Comments: 

Tom yum is a spicy clear soup typical in Central Thailand. Tom yum is widely served in neighbouring countries such as Laos, Malaysia and Singapore, and has been popularised around the world.    

 

Som tam is a ' spicy papaya salad ' comes from northeast Thailand, but it's reached near-cult status throughout the rest of the country. Slight regional differences in ingredients means placement on the sweet-or-sour scale may vary greatly between restaurants. Common to all recipes is shredded green papaya and a healthy dose of heat. Barbequed chicken and lumps of sticky rice are the perfect companions.
