The Hanging Tree

The Hanging Tree

Stands Solemnly

Awaiting the next neck.

It stands proud for all to see.

As a stout reminder to you and me

To keep our inhumanity in check.

It brings the end

With the snap of a rope

Its boughs never bend

No matter how big the dope.

Go with god and avoid a bad rap

Or you may come to your end with a snap.

The Hanging Tree does not judge you

It passes that to the person next up the queue.

So mind your manners and selfless nature

By being good you may mature.

But if you are bad, God will see

And you could be heading to the Hanging Tree.
