Places like Pork Chop Hill, DaNang,

Kuwaiti Desert, and Kosovo they fell.

Young men, in a schrapnel hell.

Many never saw from whence death came,

From piece of lead or fiery flame.

Mothers, on both sides, mourned their lost sons,

Proof that in war, what is lost is more than what is won.

Policians move their little pins on their little maps

Not caring that each move was at the expense of some poor sap.

Korea, Viet Nam, Kuwait, Kosovo, when will they learn?

It is one of their most precious resources that they burn.

A generation, our hope for tomorrow,

Are the first to go.  What sorrow.

We want to police the world for peace's sake,

Then proceed to take sides, a grave mistake.

What happened to a country's right to self determination?

Is it our right or duty to stop the extermination?

Korea had its 38th parallel,

Where they talked and talked while their and our young men fell.

Viet Nam talks were held in Paris

Where they talked and talked in near bliss.

The time for talking is before war starts,

When you could save all those young men's hearts.

With the technology we have today, run simulations to see where it leads

Maybe it would save the need for heroic deeds.

Children would have their fathers to love and play,

And not just a photograph of one killed in a land far away.

A wife would keep her husband and family in tact,

Which is far more fruitful than a posthumous medal and all that.

Every life wasted diminishes us all,

To continue in this way, we are doomed to fall.

If you are a leader, care enough for your people to say,

Before we commit to war, there must be a better way.

Young men will go where they are told.

Kill or be killed in the heat or cold.

The pride of our nations sent to their doom,

By politicians, safe here at home.

If they return, they carry the ghosts of the dead,

Faces of those they killed running around in their heads.

Of fallen comrades that made the ultimate sacrifice,

To save our country and our way of life.

Perhaps in the next "war", we send our political bodies instead,

To duke it out on the field of honour, with hot lead.

The last two standing can opt to die

Or come to a reasonable compromise.

This would save our youth to fulfill their destinies, and what's more,

Eliminate unimaginative "leaders" that would start a war.

Let's end the hate and take down the borders, see

And live like brothers in a world, borders free.
