A FAIRY/AFZAL SHAUQ

The journey long
with broken heart
I take my rest..
Off in the distaance
I suddenly hear
sweet singing.
It calls to me
I am possessed and
drawn into its
direction.
When I arrive
there before my eyes
is she.
this vision, more
fantasy than real.
with a face more
delicate than a doll.
Hair more finer than
silk,
blown in the wind
and eyes so green,
they would emeralds
fade.
My eyes must deceive
me,
for she had wings
this vision of beauty
sitting amoung the
flowers.
I reach out, for
just one
touch, but as my
hand neared
she flew away.
Becoming but a
dream
that will forever
haunt
Leaving just this
song
to sing.
Fairies come..but
never stay
Nor to be touched
by human hands
Fairies must go away
to live in fairyland
And since that day,
as a dreamer
I search the world
for that sweet
fairy.
