Gone

Remember her smile

The smell of warm bread

The love she could give

But now she is dead

The space in your heart

Where she once lay

Is empty as could be

For she could not stay

The despair that overwhelms

The wave threatening to crash

If only she were here

If you weren’t so rash

For true it was your fault

She will never breathe again

Surfing was a bad idea now

But it wasn’t so bad then

The smile and the bread have left

For she couldn’t stay

She will never return

Sweet, sweet Adelaide
