Cell

HERE I LAY,TRAPPED IN A CELL WITH CELLS,

A THOUSAND 'FORE AND A THOUSAND AFTER.

TRAPPED HERE IN THIS DARKENED HELL

FILLED UP WITH A TAINTED LAUGHTER.

MENTAL BARS SUROUND ME NOW

NEVER ENDING,A DARK GRAY HAZE.

THEN ALL AT ONCE,LIKE A LIGHTED PLOW

ALL IS LIT IN A FIERY BLAZE.

HAPPINESS INSTILLS IN ME,LIGHT SURROUNDS MY FACE.

A MOMENT PASSES,DOES NOT WAVER,AND I THINK THAT I'M OKAY.

BUT THEN ALAS,FROM IN MY CELL,IT VANISHES WITHOUT A TRACE.

THE LIGHT WHICH WAS MY OLD TRUE FRIEND,NOT DARKNESS BUT ME HATH IT BETRAYED.

THE ONLY ONE WHOM HOLDS THE KEY TO MY LIFES DARK DOOR,

IS IN LOVE WITH ONE THAT IS NOT ME.

I PULL HER BOAT UPON MY SHORE

FROM MY INNER SELF A JAGGED SEA.

BUT ALAS, SHE KNOWS NOT STILL, THAT IT IS HER I LOVE

NOR THAT HER NAME IS THAT RADIANT LIGHT.

THE DARKNESS IS INSTEAD MY DOVE

AND THE CELL MY NEED FOR HER BEAUTEOUS SIGHT.

SO HERE I LAY,IN A CELL WITH CELLS

A THOUSAND 'FORE AND A THOUSAND AFTER.

NOW A THOUSAND TWIXT THE TWO

NOW FILLED WITH HER LOVELY LAUGHTER.

Author's Notes/Comments:

Pretty obvious what this one's about. The all too familiar feeling of love without love. Wanting something not attainable. Enjoy and critique.
