with the world watching

Folder:
other?

The world is watching me

I’m held back to do what I please

There is an eye staring in my direction

And I’m under high protection

The streetcar rolls along

A tree blows in the breeze

I look at my sister feeding the birds

And think of the barriers which keep me enclosed

She’s wearing a black, copper, and gray coat

My mother holds on to my arm and she acts so proper

I hear the clangs of people coming home

I see people rejoicing after their return

The cathedral chimes and the train whistle blows

I see the snow, and colder it grows

I want to cross the street, go into the shops

I stand begging mother, while my sister feeds the birds

She has no restrictions, she is not held back

To me as a child everything’s a distraction

Whether it’s just a leaf blowing, my sister, or something important

It’s winter and all is a blur

The trees are gone, the wind is cold

The sky up in the background is ready to set

None of the trees want to move

Yet the wind forces them around

I’m waiting for the new plants to come

All the new life and joy

Fresh flowers in spring skies of blue

Right now the world feels so unclear

Living a life in what I want to be love

I stroll along the road as the streetcar rolls past

I’m in a world locked in and there’s no turning back

The world can be clean in one swipe of the night

When the sun has gone down, when there’s no more light

The sunset comes back tomorrow and the next

Revealing G-d’s glow and erasing the day’s text
