poem_259_Dead_Things

It's to my understanding

From what I have seen

Many Americans

Are quite obscene

Taking status in death

Decorating it for pride

In higher quality fashion

For these things that died

I mean specifically

Like dead ends of nails

Painted with a polish

And refined details

Or even long hair

In all it's dead length

Undeniably dead

But conveyed with strength

We even take organics

Such as flowerful bouquets

And the cutting of their life

Makes a "beautiful" portray

By burning up a body

And turning it to ash

We pressurize a diamond

Then parade it for a flash

So much death for so much beauty

That is the way it seems

The morbidly vogue statement

Of America's alluring screams
