poem_257_I_Mean_It

I've said it a lot before

And meant it every time

But the first between us

Was different and sublime

When I said it to you

As you gently held

It took me 15 minutes

Before it expelled

But when those words

So delicately flowed

Out of my heart

I felt it explode

Your arms pulled tighter

Your breath ran still

My eyes welled with tears

My sobs were shrill

When I said it I meant it

Like others before

But saying it to you

Meant something much more

For in that moment

The words made brave

My life and my heart

And to you I gave

And every time I've thought it

And every time it's said

The meaning's never lessened

But instead is only fed

Because of this

Each time I say

That, "I Love You So Much"

It's the most to the day

And I hope that eventually

After I say it again

You'll come to see

What I mean then

Through the moments we share

My love grows more than ever

And it makes my heart long

To be more of yours forever

I don't know how to thank you

For this meaning you have shown

Or how to even explain

My growing love that you own
