poem_242_Stickin_Round

I thought about his voice just now

And felt a gouging rip

I imagined him speaking to me

And my composure start to slip

Thinking about how close we were

And how close we’ll never be

How heavenly his touch is

How they’ll never be for me

Despite the things he tells me

To push, and push me gone

I’ll never be far away

Never completely forgone

“I fucked Kelsey”

His repeating rhyme

“So go ahead and leave

I’ll just waste your time”

How it stung, the worst

Those words he said

Reopening the hole

My heart once bled

But I clung so deeply

To the moments we shared

When we were so happy

And my pain was spared

I’m stickin’ ‘round ‘though

Despite what you say

Or deliberately hurt me

To keep me at bay

Whenever you’re ready

To get in that ‘ship

I’ll be waitin’ and ready

To finally start our trip
