poem_192_Riddle_Riddle_I

You see me when you’re scared

All your fears become real

Until you are calm

My presence you feel

To most, I’m just nothing

A mind game of the night

But what you see that most don’t

Is what has you in such fright

Take a moment

Think of this

You’re laying in your room

Staring in abyss

Everything is silent

When out of the blue

Something strange happens

That you just can’t construe

I begin to move

Swaying to and fro

All you can do is sit there

Watch where I will go

At first I just sway

A stare down we begin

But as the time goes on

I move closer in

Like a gentle breeze

Pushing my being

I silently swing my slings

For you I am fleeing

I’m the creature of the night

Which haunts your room

Not the boogieman I assure

But more gruesomely gloom

From the crack in your closet

I do watch with weary eyes

As the light penetrates my entity

Killing my disguise

I know you feel me

My caterpillar crawl

Breeching your security

Between your blinds

I do peer in

Watching for the right moment

Where my hunt shall begin

The closer and closer I get

Your heart beats more and faster

Moving so eerily and careless

You feel a possible disaster

You can’t star directly at me

Like most things in the dark

But off to the side you see me best

As I continue the embark

I sometimes seem harmful

But there are times I am calm

But every time you see me

I put you in an alarm

Right before, although

I am within touching distance

Most hide under their blanket

To flee in mental existence

Upon looking back

A moment’s resting heart

Your fear-striking hemp man

Has made the depart

But what of the next time

When you encounter again

My iridescent opacity

What will you do then

If other’s find out,

You’ll be claimed insane

But if you don’t

From me you will never refrain
