poem_108_His_Arms

To lie within his grasp tonight

Is all I wish in my last days

Last time to see his face shine bright

Until this other world I phase

Stroke a finger

Along his face

Allow it to linger

As I give an embrace

Run my hands

Through his soft hair

Cherishing the strands

As I prepare

Tonight is the last for he and I

No more days will we kiss and be merry

Tonight is the night; the last tear I cry

No longer his burden to carry

To kiss him a last

For my minutes grow short

Till my existence has passed

And I join another court

If there is one thing that I must do

Before I lay for eternal rest

Is to lay a kiss where it means true

Upon his beating chest

"I love you Keith Hixenbaugh,

You've helped me through a lot.

But now my life I must withdraw,

There's no more place for me in life's plot."

My love for him I shall recite

Then on his heart I shall lay

Sleeping in his arms tonight

As my body does fade away
