poem_055_Looks_Dont_Tell

Take a glance and look at me.

And try to judge by what you see.

I dress all black and lots of metal.

Just one look your mind will settle.

I’ll be put with the depressed and sad.

Or even perhaps the deranged and mad.

All these thoughts because one look.

Just like you do the cover a book.

Take the time to look inside.

Wait as looks you set aside.

There’s more to me than meets the eye.

Get to know before you walk by.

Stop and talk look in my soul.

I’m the type you can console.

I don’t tell lies even the white.

I even tell the impolite.

I’m brutally honest but with good intention.

I’m not like those goths on “Intervention”.

I don’t do drugs and I do not cut.

But I do have things that are a rut.

Not as bad as others like me.

I have problems but let me be.

We’re only human you have them too.

At least with mine I can subdue.

Looks only tell a human’s outside.

Looks are not enough to provide,

Everything that’s truly great

Or how you and I could relate.

Looks are only for the skin.

Don’t pass this you’ll never win.

Looks don’t tell you what you need.

When you fill your heart starts to bleed.

You’ll need someone who truly cares.

And you won’t mind what he or she wears.

It’s in the heart, mind, and soul,

Whether or not someone’s a troll.

Not the mere looks alone.

But on the inside which fits the throne.

So take a glance and look at me.

And try to judge by what you see.
