A New Beginning

Life/Living

(Revised version of Pack, Go and Adieu)

In the midst of chaotic junks,

Encumbered by a cluttered thought,

Rubbles are seen everywhere –

As if, the earthquake handed me

Its rattling jungle and ruins.

How these amass of scraps get here,

Makes me ponder and wonder.

They are insignificant now,

For all the boxes, large and small;

They will not fit them all.

True, this place is empty; only

With loved ones who have gone away,

As they left their precious treasures,

And, remembrance of our happy times;

Such memories evoke my tears to fall.

A new lease of life to rebuild

From scratches to a fresh start;

As long as the sun keeps shining –

Hope smiles for a new beginning

Adieu to my home and my love.

Author's Notes/Comments:

Yes, I marvelled to discover what things indeed we have kept over the years. Suddenly, they become insignificant, except some important memoirs of course that I cannot bear to part. Packing and moving is the most cumbersome thing to do.

Addendum – I reduced this work into 20 liners from the original manuscript to fit in into most poetry requirements.
