Fleeting Meeting

Folder:
Lost Writes (2003)

Today a girl came up to me

With a flyer,

A smile.

Handed me both.

Greeted me all the while.

Then turned

And walked away.

How fleeting it was...

How fleeting it was...

Today I ran into a friend

Who told me a tale

Of what happened to them

And walked into class

While I stayed with a hand round my pen.

How fleeting it was...

How fleeting it was...

Today I saw a tiny waterfall

From in my car

Watched my hopes sparkle

And trickle down into a lake of...

Green light!

So I had to move on

Just because...

How fleeting it was...

How fleeting it was...

Today I caught myself repeating lines

And figured out

I'd passed through all who I encountered

Like a dying breeze -

Barely heard.

Forgot with ease.

How fleeting I was...

How fleeting I was...

Tonight I saw the sun set

And its glow relax into the dark.

And I pray... I pray

Tomorrow's not some fleeting clone

Of today...
