The Inner Place

Teach me the protocol, what pleases You in the inner place
Show me what it takes to leave a smile on Your face

Let me whisper, my adoration a soft spoken word
My voice distinct in your ear, like none you’ve ever heard

Yes Lord in the beauty of the inner place
Where truth meets mercy and grace

Tell me what brings You delight
What makes your heart flutter, when I come into sight?

In your presence my purpose is to please
Let me bring your cup and then sit at your knee

Once I am there, close at your side
I look only at your face, not in your hand for a prize

Lord it’s Your great mystery that fills me to the point of overflow
Like walking in a maze, there’s a surprise behind every door

Being in the inner place makes my knees weak
My voice trembles when I try to speak

Sometimes all I can do is weep

Not tears of sorrow or tears of shame
I’m overwhelmed by your glory; life will never be the same
