Ashes of A Rocket (Safe And Snug)

Finished Poems

You're my only younger brother

So now you have to stay

I guess if God needs company

There's something I should say

I may have got you mad sometimes,

But that's what brother's do

You know I love you very much

I know you love me too

Either chasing squirrels or chasing tails,

You always made us smile

And christmastime was prob'ly best

You made that time worth while

Fourteen years have passed you now

That's more in doggie years

But you've become a part of me

That's why I'm shedding tears

It was hard to watch the ramp come down

That just hit home for me

No more pain, no more limp

No more agony

I looked into some big brown eyes

And past a cataract

You knew just what was going on

You weren't coming back

But you're wrong, you may be gone,

But when each day is through,

I search my heart, and find the part,

That makes me think of you

So next time I come down the stairs

And you aren't there to bug

It's good to know your resting up there

With angels, safe and snug
