Great Unknown

Life leads us in search of conclusions,
We turn a corner only to find ourselves stuck in a plethora of new directions.
Questions pile up with unknown revelations,
We’re searching for the missing link, that piece that makes us complete.

Turn around slowly, danger lurks near,
Fear is what we know, but what we don't fully comprehend nor understand.
Feeble attempts, heartache, pain, desperation,
Feelings make us what we are and shape our personalities, the very depths of our souls.

We rearrange, we grow, live, and then die,
We’re always pushing so hard to learn all that we can before we say that final goodbye.
No promises are made when we’re born,
We hold the future in the palm of our soiled hands.

Like a ball of light, radiant energy unseen by human sight, we ponder,
Where will we go from here?
The path seems distant and feeble when it's right in front of our faces,
Looking to others, our faith, and our spirit guides.

Leading us forward, they force us to open our woeful tear stained eyes.....

Author's Notes/Comments:

This was a poem I originally wrote back in July of 2001. I edited it quite a bit to make it more meaningful.
