From A Distance

(Written 6~27~01)

Standing inside a dimly lit corner,

Inside a building full of strife,

Motionless, paused in waiting,

Watching as you slowly pass her by.

When you cry it invokes sorrow,

When you laugh it rains smiles,

Though no matter how hard she tries,

You ignore her constant prowls.

What does it take to gain your affection,

Must she change the person deep down,

While her mind wields it’s wildest envisions of sin,

Is the consuming change worth it,

Worth it, just to win?

No.

Never.

But she is there once more,

Holding her breathe till you walk past,

Just to see the one she loves,

If only from a distance, she makes the moment last.

From a distance,

She will always be,

Waiting to see if you care enough,

Just to take notice of her and see,

And the day you do,

It may already be too late,

In her lonely corner, she’ll no longer wait,

Already escaped past false hopes and dreams.

Away from the inner torment and silent demonic screams.

Maybe then you'll see the person inside,

Was never meant to be changed for your selfish pride.

That the person you glanced at from a distance,

Whom would have loved you with a pure heart,

Was me.
