Bodies of Water

As the waves crash against my toes,
I feel so small compared
to this vast ocean.

I walk along the shore
watching the world ebb and flow
as my chest rises and falls in step.

The wind flows through me
pushing me along the coast
ever nearer to my destiny.

Maybe we’re just bodies of water
like the sea stretched out before me.

Maybe our hearts beat with the tides

as blood rushes through us.

Maybe our souls are lakes
meant to overflow with love.
