Nothing's Changed

Folder:
Society

With all the advancements

We’ve made in these hundreds

Of generations,

We get back to that primal need

To have everything.

From the cavemen to

Men in million-dollar caves,

We just haven’t advanced that much.

We still want a pretty girl

On our arm,

Our own set of wheels:

A buffet of stuff.

The only thing that’s changed

Is now we have strangers-

Television, Internet-

Telling us what it is we want.

Author's Notes/Comments:

Inspired by: “An entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables; slaves with white collars. Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy stuff we don't need. We're the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our Great War's a spiritual war... our Great Depression is our lives.” Fight Club
