I bruise easily

And not just my skin;

My heart has become

Prone to being affected

By afflicting pain.



Tiny marks and discolorations

Cover its surface,

Reminding me to keep it

Away from those who

Intend to cause it harm.



But I place Band-Aids

Over the heartache

Long enough to forget

About the pain and

Be hurt all over again.
