with the dawn of a new year
but everything remained the same
[except now I had lost you]
I lost you in
the confusion of trying to see
how we could fit together
[it seems we worked best apart]
I lost you in
the pause between sentences,
the time span linking breaths
[you were busy finding yourself]
I wish to earn back each breath wasted
and every thought spent on you,
Because now I'm penniless
[and the future only demands change]
