Indian Giver

Lessons Learned

A gift has been granted to an infant,

The undeserving and unappreciative,

Wrapped in simple paper and unadorned

But filled carefully with all your love.

It kept the child occupied for a while,

But soon it was pushed aside because

She was too young and inexperienced

To prize a gift given without merit.

So seeing how little value was shown

Towards this gift you gave so dotingly

You picked it up sadly seeing how it was

So carelessly thrown away barely used.

You took it back knowing you would find

Someone who is more worthy and would

Understand the significance of such a gift

And treat it like a treasure, not just a toy.
