Thoughts on Life

Like a fisherman,

You reeled me in with your lure,

But when I didn't meet your standards,

You threw me back into the ocean.

Like a sports captain,

You picked me to be on your team,

But when I didn't apply myself,

You left me on the sidelines.

Like a garbage collector,

You sorted through my contents,

But when I was nothing of substance,

You threw me out with the trash.

Like a musician,

You played me like an instrument,

But when I was not pleasing to your ears,

You left me in the attic to collect dust.

Like a journalist,

You gathered information on me,

But when I was no longer interesting,

You discarded me like yesterday's news.
