Back then it seemed
Our love was existing
On exclamation points.
A relationship founded
On false perceptions,
While our flaws were
Hiding in parenthesis.
We would rather live
In lies than risk being
Entangled in deception.
Remember our termination?
When you thought it best
To leave me waiting here
With open-ended questions,
Not giving me any closure
Because of your hesitation.
But I won't wait for your
Decision. No, I will end
Our statement with a period,
And, with that, I taught you
A lesson in punctuation.
