Ordering a beer

and scoping out the stickers

adorning the beer cooler

I spy a Bruiser Brody sticker

on the beer cooler at Lorraine

and I wonder if it’s a statement

or merely incidental

Brody has his hands

clapped together

as though embroiled in prayer

I wonder if the sticker

is incidental or on purpose

but I will not ask

I really want to view it

as an omen

and couldn’t stand

to have the illusion shattered

I quietly toasted the sticker

and sip my beer

Some things are best

when left unspoken
