and take note George Takei

handling blushing pearls

showing no hint

of future endeavors in space

It’s too early in the morning

and not nearly enough java

funneled down my throat

too early morning too little coffee

contemplating the great mysteries

we’re not boldly going anywhere new

we’re just retreading old TV

with plotlines as old

as Greek civilization

a democracy unheralded

and wisdom ever elusive

we seek it in coffee drenched morning TV
