A lot of times

sitting alone

with a cigar

just thinking

can be

the most enlightening thing

as I listen

to the trains rumbling on

to their destinations

and many people

with nowhere to go

are flying along

to get there

in a royal hurry

while I just wait

for something to happen

and the cigar tastes

pretty good

but it doesn’t make

anything happen

while another train

I have somewhere to go

but I’m not

making much effort

to actually get there

I’m fairly content

to just sit here

and try to make smoke rings

that never quite work out

but the smoke rings

I try to blow

seem to be

going farther

than these fast trains

flying by all night long

anyway
