It must be sad

cause it’s Friday night

and I’m happy

because it’s the season premiere

of Dennis Miller Live

Once upon a time—

once upon a glorious time

I would never be home

on a Friday night

and now I’m thinking

“Boy, I’m glad

I didn’t have to go out

and miss Dennis Miller.”

It’s not to criticize

his performance or show

because it’s good

but I really should

be more active than this

Used to be

I was automatically out

on Friday night

no questions asked

Well, now I’m old,

lonely, bitter

and more tired

than ever before

Destiny be a bitch

or so they say

and you’ll not hear

a peep of protest from me
