Growth

Folder:
My History

Mommy

will I ever grow up

and be like the man on TV

strong, tough, confident

and be respected by many

and will give back to his

community

"Yes child,

when you grow up"

Mommy

will there ever be a time

when I get big, go to college

and own a business

and employ my brothers and sisters

to help many others and help them

be happy and enjoy life

to buy you that dream house

you always wanted

"Yes child

when you grow up"

Mommy

will I ever grow

and someday meet

the girl of my dreams

who I will love, respect

and keep her secure

for all my days and nights

when we share our vows

cloaked in florals,

black and white

till death do us part

"Yes child

when you grow up"

Mommy,

will there be a day

where we can wake up

and know who we are

and will shine like the sun

as individuals

and in harmony

not in fear, but in love

the way God intended

"My child,

I believe you've grown."

Author's Notes/Comments:

Reiterating back to childhood when we always wanted the answers to satisfy our curiosity.
