BRONX PRIDE 2

Let's pan back to University Heights

from my first chelo game soliciting Nike

funds to support brothers seeking fame

building on pop-lockin my way to just to

become a thought

but of course, the older dudes were the rude ones

out to provoke the weak and broke

with 40s and blunt smoke

was so drawn in to taking them bus rides

Concourse Bx# 1 & 2

from the County Courthouse to Fordham

ignorin the boredom, so I armed myself with a pen

and fought em

caught whiplashes from asses wigglin in the hottest summer

149th & 3rd, Hub Central to the curb

Fat Joe's 560, and them kats stayed hungry

every new fat goose and denim, no one looked bummy

you wanted somethin from me, you better fight me to take it

displacing lyrical dreams and hard knock attitude

blended with Boogie down state of mind

realizing the realization of the realness building

trust me, the Bronx is known for more than the Yanks

and abandoned buildings

ask DJ Chubby Chubb, the god was there

Boston Road and Baychester, the yardies lived there

EZ Al from Nelson formed his own clique

after Methodone Tone got stoned by his own shit

big things in Little Italy were critically on pedastal bound

big kids from Kingsbridge, we want ours now

shufflin out to Throggs Neck & Pelham.......

that's what we call "White Bronx"

rode on skates to Allerton without debate

when all you had was a quarter

to communicate

way before Sprint and Cingular and dot coms

used to walk to White Plains Rd to drop bombs

my nerves calm only when the music blast louder

that's the only thing I had left in me

but next I see....

B-boys and graff heads stompin on ya grounds

"CAP~ONE" and "SANE'S"name on the # 1 line one time

Clinton H.S. when I wrote my first rhyme

Sedgwick and River Park Projects

there were people all over, they couldn't stop it

the streets were ruled by prophets and kings

cocked my Gun Hill Rd, where I bought my first rings

Fordham was the mecca of ghetto shopping

Alexander's, Crazy Eddie and V.I.M. was poppin

tried to view every flick that was ever released

but was too young to watch Porky's 1, 2, & 3

trials and tribulations of the Pelon set

R.I.P. to Bumpurs, Stewart, Diallo.....

we'll never forget

my blood boils with turmoil, let's take the man down

The Baez Family grieving, but still achieivng

but believe, we're back

and the hunger still lives

I'm Major Deagan seekin the truth

for all my youth and the wise old man

feedin his pigeons on Courtlandt Van

let's connect deep for the occasion

Lincoln Hospitable, so pitiful, it's critical

I lock myself in the Bronx Zoo

till I'm through with my writings

I cut myself thinking with a sharp mind

mentally fighting

and don't dare stir up some nerd up,

bound to get hurt up......

I'd rather stay buried, curried, fried in my book

don't you even look......

I will remain the University Avenue outsider

and continue to be the lone rider

opening closed eyes and closing open wounds

deep so the other boros can feel it

So there, allow me to swallow my pride

and throw up my self-worth

where the people are fresh.......

Bronx keeps creatin it

creatin it

creatin it

creatin it
