in this season of leisure

for much of this time
i thought we would come
together like a filly
and donkey
you see i think of you
in the atmosphere of
lightning and thunder
but today is the end of
the the bend over
desire i have for you
of this summer
i will be back on the road
to my school and you back
on the road to yours
and never once did we sip
the dark foam on the patio
and now i am lost in the haze
of pineapple juice, coconut milk
and the fermented sugarcane
that might lead to a hangover
but no closer to the curves
of your hips that fade into
the sensual horizon
