The Leviathan

I saw it,
A wall of salty sea and knotted weeds
A mound of ragged scales and broken flesh
A pair of eyes with a yellow so dark
I saw it,
The jaws of beyond a hand's reach
A crushing tail of past deeds and memories
The slithery body of time's company
I saw it, I say,
The brilliant sheen on the back of life
The fins of fate flapping away in the storm
Across the waters and into the deep
Down we go into a spiral
A bottomless realm of uncertain chaos
A name they had for this monster of old
A name not easily spoken of in our little world
Only a whisper dictates the truth of
The Leviathan
