Staring at the wall

I lie awake at night staring at the wall,
Thoughts racing through my mind.
I attempt and fail to make some sense of them;
They cloud my vision like a heavy fog.
A veil has decended over me;
I search myself to pick a coherent thought
From a sea of confusion.
So many questions to be asked,
Too many things left unsaid.
I need to ask. I need to be answered.
Inside I am screaming;
In frustration I pace like a beast inside a cage,
Pulling at my hair until it comes out in my hands.
On the inside a storm rages,
On the outside, I lie still,
Staring at the wall.
