if ever I knew love would you ever let that moment end

if ever you stepped into my mind would you be able to face me again

if you saw the shadows and heard the voices what would you do

and say

could you look me in the eye and tell me that I should be able to make them go away

I really don't think so



if ever you lived my life can you tell me you could handle it better than me

that I am just weak and not tying hard enough because I know that you really don't see

you don't see what I see, you don't hear what I hear, you don't feel what I feel

so don't you dare tell me that I am making this up and that none of it is real

because you really don't know



if ever I found heaven could you ever really take it away

if ever I spoke real words would you listen to what I say

if ever you saw the shadows on my wall and heard the voices in my head

could you honestly tell me it made you feel alive and that you never felt dead

maybe you really couldn't tell



if you could walk a mile in my shoes do you really think you could

and even if you did can you honestly tell me you really would

if you could switch places with me would you really want to

cause you think it's so easy I'd like to see what you'd do
