Distance makes a difference

Santiago, Ralph and JC were three brothers that lived in a very small town with their parents. These guys had a really normal life, they were the kind of siblings that fought all the time. They usually tried to stand each other but being together for more than 20 min was usually chaotic.Everything tended to be peaceful until one of them decided to make a comment which would annoy one of the other siblings. This would unleashed big fights that would probably end up with either  punches worthy of a Rocky movie or one of them getting really mad. Ralph who was the oldest of all was a Senior in highschool,he had the dream of studying in a place where he could learn about other culture and language. His home country was definitely not an option. He for sure knew that whenever he graduated he wanted to go study as far as he could from home.

Whenever the time came Ralph studied his options and after a long time of analyzing what he really wanted, he decided to apply to a school abroad. He was accepted almost immediately due to his high grades and leadership as captain of the basketball team. One day he got home and was told that there was something in the mail for him. He was sure what awaited him but he was anxious to know what the response was going to be. Whenever he opened the letter he was excited to read that he was accepted to this prestigious school in the other corner of the world. He almost immediately gave the good news to his family. JC and Santiago were thrilled to hear that his brother was leaving the city for good. Now each of them was going to have their own room. The day came and Ralph packed his bags, his parents were kind of sad since he was the first of their children to leave their home. But for his brothers it was the best day of their lives. The first few weeks after Ralph left both JC and Santiago were really happy, the fighting ceased and a peaceful feeling started to fill the house. Little did they knew that this peaceful feeling was going to turn their days from adventurous to repetitive. After just a couple of months they needed their brother back, they needed those fights and discussions. This type of situations was what used to give life to their home and now they for sure just kind of wanted their  brother back.

The first semester of his brother abroad ended for christmas break, and as it was the first time of Ralph being afar, they parents bought him a ticket to fly home and spend the holidays with them. Once Ralph was back, he was different, he behaved more calm and kind with his brothers. And Santiago and JC felt really weird because they wanted things to be just as before Ralph first left.
On christmas eve, Santiago and JC couldn’t hold it anymore, and started yelling at Ralph. They wanted his brother back, the one he was the summer before leaving. This astonished Ralph, and suddenly he was crying in front of his brother in the middle of the dining room. Ralph told them that he wasn’t happy studying abroad, and that he now treasured them both, Santiago and JC. Ralph was not going to fight them anymore, he just wanted to be with them and to hang out with them as he never did.
Santiago and JC were touched, and so, they also decided that from now on, they would get along.
