Endless Demise of Self

Urd (self A)

is living in a universe

serving as the main recipe

for reminiscence,

and in this land,

she has no perception

and therefore is as alive

as a fence post.

Verdandi (self B)

likes to surf the second hand

and slip and plunge down

past the sensor-wand that zaps

her into Urd's body

while resuming down

into the googles

of other Urd corpses.

All this,

just so that Verdandi

could regenerate

like one of those

pull-and-wait-for-your-number-

to-be-called ticket dispensers

that the moon's gravity

likes to pull so much,

causing that stream

of ticket-to-ticket

broken sound barriers.

The only way Verdandi

is connected to Urd

is by her conformity

to Urd's once-existent

characteristics,

as if Verdandi was conforming

to a deceased historical figure.

Author's Notes/Comments:

getting influenced from david hume's take on the nature of self, i wrote this to demonstrate how the self is not connected but always changing; you are not the same person you were in the past. it is as if you were just very much influenced by that past person as you would be by say a historic figure. it is almost as if you're constantly dying and what you are presently is a new person.
