Faceless

There I was alone,

my faith thought long gone,

a mountain to the left of me,

and to my right was the sea.

Then it happened you see.

A faceless man appeared in front of me.

On down the beach we walked.

For hours on end we talked.

Then I turned to Him, and said,

"I thought, to You, I was dead."

He smiled, "You have little faith indeed,

but you only need that the size of a mustard seed.

Nothing in all of Heaven or Earth is greater than my love for you.

It's about time you figured that out too."

On we walked, and on we talked late into the night

about life, death, and everything in between.

"Do you believe?" He asked as the water covered our feet.

Finally I could see as I fell down to my knees.

Through tears I spoke again

"Lord how can You love me with all of my sin?

I am worthless as the sin I've been living in!

How can you count me among the forgiven?!"

"My child, I love you, and would never leave you.

Look back in the sand and see it too.

Look, and remember what you already knew,

that, where there's one set of footprints,

it was then that I carried you."

So great is His love for me, that He gave His life

so that my sins were paid for, for all of time.

The grace that I saw that day again and again

is what I got from the faceless Man.

Author's Notes/Comments:

I run away. I mess up. I come back. Jesus accepts me with open arms. I am the prodigal. Are you?
