Things Don’t Always Go as Planned

Friday night on March 17, 2017 was supposed to be the time my friend and I would be readily sitting our flight to Chihuahua. We had been planning the whole weekend for days. We would arrive to Chihuahua on a Friday night and go straight to my friends house. Then from there we would quickly unpack and get ready for out night out with friends since a lost of people went to Chihuahua that weekend. The next morning a couple of friends and I had planned to go to a ranch and spend the night there until Sunday. However, little did we know that our trip would not go at all how we planned. Our flight was at 8:00pm, but we had to arrive an hour and a half early. We got the Uber to the airport early enough so we would arrive on time. The problem was that there was a horrible traffic accident on the way and we took almost double than we were supposed to, to get to the airport. Because of this we arrived exactly 5 minutes after the limit time to board the flight. We quickly get our things out of the Uber and run as fast as we can to check in our luggage and board the plane. As we get to the checkout station the employee tells us that we can no longer board the flight. We desperately asked the man to let us board the flight since my friend brother was already on the flight with his friends, yet the man wouldn’t bug. At this moment I was so stressed out and panicking way too much. I couldn’t stop thinking about what my parents were going to say about the fact that I missed the flight, or the fact that we were not going to be able to go out with our friends that night. The worst part was that it was about 7 people in total including ourselves who could not board the flight, all because of the traffic accident. We kept on asking and asking until we eventually ran out of time and the plane left. I was feeling hopeless at this point when the man said that the only option was to take the next flight which was on Sunday afternoon. This was not even an option since we had to be back on Monday for school so there wouldn’t even be a point to going. Just as we were about to give up, my friend and I decided to look for other flights to see if we could find anything at all. It turns out there was a flight with Interjet the next day. That was great news! Except for the fact that it was at 6 in the morning. Even though it was extremely early in the morning we decided to buy the ticket since none of us were going to give up on going. Obviously our parents were undoubtedly mad at us, which resulted in us having to buy the plane tickets with our own money. I didn’t really mind much because I knew I deserved it. So we both sadly left the airport and got an Uber back to the apartment. When we got there we were so depressed that we wanted to do whatever we could to distract ourselves, however we could not go out because we worried that we might not wake up in time for the flight and there was no way that we were going to miss another flight. The night basically consisted of us going to swim in the apartments pool for about an hour or so and then to Buffalo Wild Wings for some food. The next morning we woke up about way too many hours before our flight because we were so worried about missing it again. Thank God we arrived on time for the flight and spent the rest of the weekend happily in Chihuahua, and we vowed to never miss a flight again.
