Collapsing From the Inside Out

Holding onto my illusion of you and I together,
Not willing to let you slip away like a helpless feather.
I thought that you were the one; you and I a match.
Winds picked up and carried you too far for me to catch.
Impossible to capture a heart without its angles…
While ignoring their advice I ran into love’s tangles.
Collapsing from the inside out as it overwhelms me.
I realized in that moment: I just need to leave you be.
Shards from my broken heart tear me up inside.
Sobs allow tears to trickle down; to you, I can’t confide.
I hesitated once before I released you to the sky.
My sadness becomes a black hole as I whisper my goodbye.
