THE GREATEST WISDOM

All the knowledge and wisdom
I acquired from sages of the ages
Did bestow on me the rare insight
Which made me acknowledge God's might.

Then, a divine light dazzled me once,
Whose virtuous worth my entity felt,
Not of this world did it seem to be,
The experience was so heavenly.

Stopping me as I walked toward the mosque,
An angel touched my shoulder and said:
"It's good to see you rushing for prayer,
But do worship God with a heart sincere...

"His Light and Love are meant for those,
Who long for His love as a worshiper;
So, if you realize that you were once nothing,
But a form made from clay and water;
And then reflect on what you are now,
Only then will you revere God's spiritual love".

Saying this, the form walked away quietly,
Leaving me in my entranced state,
I looked above and within my own self,
While grasping what was divulged to me.

After a while I was more enlightened,
And often finding myself at the firmament,
Where the heart's eyes can see the One,
Worshiping Whom is the greatest wisdom.

He Who created and Who sustains all,
Has complete knowledge of everything,
And to us does He in time reveal,
Clues of the beginning and the ending.

His Will prevails and controls everything,
No power can avert or alter His plan,
Now I know the truth as it really is:
What I know is that I know nothing.

At night, the stars laugh at me and say:
"Try O man and try best as you may,
You are bound to end up as either His,
Or doomed to revert to just nothing.

"And those who deny and defy him daily,
For them is damnation and the Fire* only,
All those, whose hearts worship falsehood,
Will end up in Hell and be its food.
