LINES WRITTEN ON JUNE'S HOTTEST DAY

My 'mother' was made to walk,
Barefoot and without a shade,
On this year's hottest day.

It is Friday and I am pained,
As I want to, but cannot,
Save my 'mother' from 'hell'.

Thousands of highwaymen,
Have me bound and gagged,
My eyes shed tears of blood.

My 'mother' is my homeland,
And as evening came I wept more,
For another liar is now 'prime'.

Ever since Jinnah* left,
Liaqat Khan* was murdered,
And ZAB* was also killed;
Only thieves and robbers,
Have ruled this land of mine,
The 'mother' of all the people.

As darkness spreads its black,
I pray to Almighty God:
O Allah! Save Pakistan.

Author's Notes/Comments:

*JINNAH: The founder of Pakistan whose full name is Muhammad Ali Jinnah. He is also known/respected as the Qaid-e-Azam (Also spelt as Quaid) which in Urdu means 'great leader'.
*LIAQAT: The right hand of Muhammad Ali Jinnah and a great freedom fighter, who, along with Jinnah, sacrificed everything for Pakistan. He became the country's first prime minister and, sadly enough, was shot dead during a speech at Liaqat Garden in Rawalpindi in 1951.
*ZAB: The abbreviation for former prime minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, former/assassinated on April 4, 1979, via a farcical judicial trial following a military coup by Gen. Ziaul Haq on July 5, 1977.

Posted on June 22, 2012, as another well known corrupt man became the prime minister of Pakistan.
