JUST YOU AND ME

This winter was a guest
That stayed somewhat longer
Than it ever did
In several bygone years.
And then it chose to leave
Bidding adieu to nature.

How I wish you were here
With me and your glistening tears
Rolling down your happy face!
We would have enjoyed the weather
The walks up and down the hills
Arm in arm and soul with soul
Oft hugging passionately
Our lips sealing our bond of love
Our bodies torching inward fires
Our closeness' intensity
Lighting up love's divinity.

Watching sunsets from the peaks
of Murree* and Nathiagali*
And the surrounding serenity.
And as the clouds of dusk fell
Seated on a Persian rug
By the blazing hearth with silence
As the glowing embers softly speak
The bond that binds you and me.

Listening to the romantic songs
And composing our own symphony
In the dimmed space of our room
Waltzing romantically
Just you and me in harmony
To Stacey Kent* and Sinatra*
And the swooning of Melody*
With nobody to disturb us both
You and me...just you and me...

And caring aught for the outer world
Giving life to our love's fantasy.
And driving away melancholy.
What an indelible memory
We could have preserved inside us
Our indescribable ecstasy
Would have made a love story
Surpassing the tales of yore
As you and I recreate Eden
Our own Heaven on Earth
Shunning all restrictions
And abominable perdition
Just imagine O my beloved
Just think of what we missed
You and I, You and Me
And the bliss of unity
In our own idealistic Eden
with no serpentine Lucifer
Defiling our sacred sanctity.
